3.15 pm: Yash Chopra’s final rites taking place at Pawan Hans crematorium
The final rites of veteran film director Yash Chopra are taking place at the Vile Parle crematorium in a private ceremony that has been closed to the public. The funeral is only attended by family members and close associates from the Bollywood fraternity.
More than 500 police personnel have been deployed to maintain traffic near the crematorium.
3.02 pm: Saira Banu speaks of Chopra family ‘shock;
Veteran actor Saira Banu speaking to the Times Now television channel, said that Yash Chopra’s family was “absolutely shaken up” by his sudden demise. “We were all at the hospital and his wife Pamela, Shah Rukh, Dilip Saab.. we were all in a state of shock”, she said.
2.30 pm: Yash Chopra funeral entourage en route to Pawan Hans crematorium
The funeral procession of veteran director Yash Chopra has begun from Yash Raj studios in Andheri, and is making its way to the Pawan Hans crematorium in Vile Parle. The procession comprises a bus with employees of the Yash Raj studio, as well as several cars carrying family members and some of his closest associates from the film fraternity. Karan Johar is traveling with the body inside the ambulance.

2: 13 pm: Veteran Filmmaker to be cremated at Pawan Hans crematorium
Late Yash Chopra’s body will be taken to Pawan Hans crematorium, in Ville Parle from Yash Raj studio in Andheri in 5 minutes for the last rites.
2:12 pm: What critics didn’t, but Yash Chopra saw in you
Firstpost writer Piyasree Dasgupta says that despite film students and critics turning up their noses at Yash Chopra’s films, what worked best for Chopra is that he knew the pulse of the Indian audiences, he understood their secret desire to be someone they dare not be in public.
She writes, “You might turn up your nose, snap your fingers and shake your head at the Bollywoodisation of Indian cinema and hold Chopra guilty for it, but that would be like saying a little daydreaming is committing intellectual hara-kiri.”
1.20pm: Yash Raj studio now closed to the public
The Yash Raj studios has now been closed to members of the public who wished to go in and pay their respects to veteran director Yash Chopra who passed away on Sunday. The body was on public display at the studio premises since late last evening.
Meanwhile a bus has been organised to take employees of the Yash Raj studios to the Vile Parle crematorium where the last rites will be conducted.

12.30 pm: Yash Chopra was not merely the “King Of Romance”
Firstpost columnist Vivek Kaulpays tribute to the veteran director, saying that the popular term ‘King of Romance’ that was used to describe him is actually a disservice, since his repertoire was so much more diverse.
He writes, “But just calling him a King of Romance would be doing a great injustice to the body of work that Yash Raj Chopra has left behind. In fact romance and candy floss cinema was something he discovered only in the latter part of his career.”
12.00pm: Stars pay tribute to Yash Chopra
Tributes have started pouring in from across the film industry for Yash Chopra. Shah Rukh Khan said, “I will always have some love to give and I will always be both emptied and replenished by the loved ones I lose. I keep u with me Yashji and I miss u too Yashji … lots,” Shah Rukh posted on his Facebook page.
Shah Rukh was special for Chopra, who directed the actor in movies like “Darr” (1993), “Dil To Pagal Hai” (1997) and “Veer-Zaara” (2004). Chopra’s last directorial “Jab Tak Hai Jaan“, which will hit the screens on 13 November, also features Shah Rukh.
